FAQ
1. How do I determine the appropriate grade-level class for my child?
Students of all ages and skill levels are welcome to join TCC group classes!
Our instructors will gladly make recommendations based on the first few lessons of the term, but please reference the following guide in determining what class is best for your child to start at or continue with.
-
Beginner Courses :
Best for complete newcomers, younger kids, or students with less than 1 year of experience with their chosen subject.
TCC group class students take 2-3 beginner courses before moving on to intermediate courses.
-
Intermediate Courses :
Best for students with ~1 year of experience with their chosen subject (either through previous TCC classes or elsewhere), or preteens.
TCC group class students take 2-3 intermediate courses before moving on to advanced courses.
-
Advanced Courses :
Best for students with ~2 years of experience with their chosen subject (either through previous TCC classes or elsewhere), or teenagers.
2. How long are the group classes?
Our weekly group classes range from 10 to 15 weeks. Durations may vary slightly by course and term, so please check the individual course description for specific details.
3. What happens if my child misses a class?
- Class Materials: If your child misses a class and you'd like to receive a lesson report, please contact us at info@tokyocodingclub.com and include the class teacher's email. We can prepare a copy of the lesson report.
- Class Billing: If your child can't attend a class and you inform us more than 24 hours in advance, we won't bill you for that session. However, cancellations within 24 hours of the class will be charged.
- Class Make-up: In some cases, we can arrange for a 1-on-1 lesson with the tutor for your child to catch up on missed material.
4. Can my child join a course mid-way?
Classes marked as “Can join part way: yes” can in principle be joined at any point in the term, based on teacher agreement.
For other classes, class registration remains open on the website until the end of the second week of classes. Students can join the class until the third week of classes, otherwise private sessions are recommended for the duration of the term as an alternative.
5. What is your refund and cancellation policy
If your first class of the new term (spring, summer, fall, winter) doesn’t suit you, you can contact us within 48 hours after your first class to unenroll, and you will not be charged for that session. This also applies to students who join a course partway through, where applicable.
For subsequent classes:
- If we are notified at least 24 hours prior to a student missing a class, there will be no charge.
- When a student cancels less than 24 hours before class, they will be charged as usual.
- Students who fail to notify TCC of any absence beforehand will be charged for the missed class.
6. How do custom group classes work?
